Dr. Tanisha L. Knighton is a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience providing compassionate, evidence-based care to diverse populations. She works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families and brings a grounded, real-world approach to therapy that clients describe as both warm and refreshingly honest.

Forensic & Community Leadership
In addition to private practice, Dr. Knighton serves as a forensic consultant in an inpatient hospital setting. She is nationally recognized for her work at the intersection of psychology and the justice system, and frequently speaks on issues like:

  • Missing Persons

  • Trauma-Informed Care

  • First Responder Wellness

  • Ethics in Mental Health Practice

She has designed and delivered hundreds of workshops and seminars for:

  • Federal and State Agencies

  • Child Advocacy Centers (CACs)

  • Academic Institutions (Undergraduate & Graduate Levels)


Community Engagement & Service
Dr. Knighton believes deeply in giving back. She currently serves on the board of the Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County and has previously served on the Early Childhood Enrichment Center board and various local and state task forces focused on human trafficking, missing persons, and behavioral health.

She is an active member of:

  • APA Division 41 – American Psychology-Law Society

  • Ohio Psychological Association (Co-Chair, Diversity Committee)

  • The Association of Black Psychologists (ABPsi)

She also volunteers her time as a pro-bono therapist with Give an Hour, supporting veterans, military personnel, victims of crime, and justice-involved individuals.
